Writing support for people with dyslexia

  • Developing written content for social media with business owners
  • Job applications, CVs and covering letters
  • Editing written projects, including academic work

Are you a business owner spending far too long drafting your blogs and posts – getting totally stressed out – and then still worrying that what you’ve written isn’t quite saying what you wanted it to say?

Are you a jobseeker or professional who wants to progress in your career, but who struggles with job applications, CVs and covering letters?

Or are you a student struggling to master your study skills or to write up your dissertation?

If so, I can help!

Why choose me?
I love working with dyslexic people, who are often so talented, but find it hard to express themselves in writing.

I’m approachable and supportive and recognise the value of your skill set as well as the value and limitations of my own. For example, I can’t do spreadsheets, and mind maps remain a mystery to me! But if you want help producing high quality written work, I can give your words the professional polish you want them to have.

If you’re interested in my background and credentials, I’ve written a short version of my story and published it on LinkedIn:

A Bit About Me: A highly improbable story which happens to be 100% true

How does it work?
As dyslexia affects people in different ways, and what you want is not going to be solved by a standardised solution, all of my work is customised exactly to what each client needs.

  1. First, let’s talk about what you need (a free 20-minute phone call)
  1. Then, if you like my approach, let’s book a Zoom meeting for a one-hour planning session (£99)
  1. If you decide to go ahead, I will make sure that you get the support you need in the way you want it – by phone, Zoom, or however you find it easiest to work
  1. You will always have control of the final output – I’m committed to making sure you’re happy with my work

Business owners
I can help you prepare all of your written content for social media. You will always control the messaging and topics, but I can help with brainstorming ideas if you’d like that.

I’ll work to understand your brand, your tone of voice, and your values, so you get customised written content that sounds like you.

You will get a simple document with the written content professionally crafted, for you to add the visuals, and post it wherever you like.

It is all about what you want and need to help you grow your business:

  • Tell me your key messaging in a one-hour call and I will write it for you, in your tone of voice
  • You will see what I’ve written and can ask me to make changes
  • I’ll send you a revised version, for you to post as you wish, across all of your social media platforms

How much does it cost?

  • Prices start at £150 for an article or blog (1200-1500 words)

You can commission a single article or blog without any further commitment, but you may wish to take one of my subscription packages:

  • For £350 a month I will write 20 posts, so you’ll have 5 posts a week, to post across as many platforms as you like
  • You can combine a blog and 20 posts in a bundle for £450 a month

I only ask for a commitment of three months for subscription packages.

Job seekers and professionals
I can support you in your job search by helping you to prepare your CV and covering letter or by helping you to complete application forms:

  • Talk to me about your background, and I will draft a new CV for you to check and ask for any changes
  • If you are applying for a particular job, I’ll draft your covering letter or application form. Again, you can check it and ask for any changes
  • I will ensure your professional background is presented in its best light, to match the job description and person specification

How much does it cost?

Support for dyslexic jobseekers and professionals starts at £50 per hour, depending on what you want done, and how you want us to work together.

We will agree the cost during our planning call.

Students
I’ve worked with dyslexic students in a wide range of subjects across the humanities and social sciences over the last 20 years.

I have a PhD in English from Oxford University and I’ve worked in four universities, so I understand the stresses of studying, and the ways different types of university work.

  • Talk to me about what you need help with. Is it study skills? Or editing a particular piece of work?
  • For study skills, I offer individual academic mentoring to help you understand how to approach your written assignments
  • Or if you have a dissertation or large piece of work you’re struggling with, I can help you organise your material and present it effectively, making sure you stay within your word limit and that your referencing is correct

This type of support is permitted within the regulatory framework, as long as your tutors are aware of it, and they know you have a diagnosis of dyslexia.

Please note I do not write essays for students – my support is for developing your study skills, and the presentation and organisation of academic work.

How much does it cost?

I match the agency rates but can offer you a dyslexia-friendly, individual service. Mentoring and support with study skills starts at £40 per hour. Editing a dissertation costs £50 per 1000 words.

We will agree the cost during our planning call.

Editorial services for business

  • Written content for social media
  • Reports and executive summaries

I work closely with business owners to understand your brand and its values and tone of voice. You will always have control of your messaging.

I will draft all of the written content for social media blogs, articles, or posts, and send them to you for approval. I am happy to make any changes required. I will then send you the revised version for you to post as you wish, across all of your social media platforms.

Or if you have long-form writing tasks, such as reports and executive summaries, which you keep putting off because of pressures on your time or because it’s really not your thing, contact me and I will help.

Please email me to arrange a free consultation to discuss what you need and what would work for you.

For reports and long-form business writing, and executive summaries, the pricing will depend on the words count and complexity, but I guarantee that the price agreed before I start work will not change, unless you add to the work once it is underway.

Please email me to arrange a free consultation to discuss what you need and what would work for you.

Indexing for specialist academic books starts at £500, depending on the size of the book and the complexity of the index required.

Transcription services start at £35 per 1000 words, depending on the size of the job and the complexity of the original source material.
